While many of us were enjoying a labor-less weekend, Sia was busy dropping a brand new jam, and I can first-handedly attest to this one being one of ‘The Greatest’.
The dynamic duo that is Sia and her dancing sidekick Maddie Ziegler are back at it with a brand new music video for her newest single called “The Greatest”, which was unexpectedly released over Labor Day weekend. Maddie appears in the video, leading a group of kids in a rundown apartment complex, once again capturing the dramatic narration of the song using only her impressive dancing skills. Take a look:
And while we’re on the subject of epic surprises, Sia also teamed up with one of the actual
‘greatest’ musicians, Kendrick Lamar, who is featured in his own verse later on in the song. Although Kendrick does not appear in the music video, we can’t help but think that his verse was taken from real-life experiences of the struggle that is proving oneself and overcoming life’s challenges.
In the audio version of the track, Kendrick can also be heard rapping lyrics that read, “I transform with pressure, I'm hands-on with effort/ I fell twice before, my bounce back was special/ Letdowns will get you and the critics will test you/ But the strongest survive another scar may bless you.”
So if weren’t aware that Kendrick was, in fact, one of the greatest, well, now you know!
