Kendrick Lamar takes home the coveted Video of the Year award for his “Humble” visual at the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards.
And you better believe his acceptance speech was appropriately modest.
It’s no surprise that the show’s opener Kendrick Lamar took home the highest honor of the night at the 2017 VMAs. Kendrick’s “Humble” video earned him the Moon Person for Video of the Year, beating out music videos from Bruno Mars, Alessia Cara, The Weeknd, and DJ Khaled. Kendrick kicked off his humble acceptance speech by thanking the talents God bestowed upon him and then dedicated the rest of his speech to his video collaborators.
After Kendrick’s words, his collaborators Dave Free and Dave Meyers took turns saying a few words. Video producer Dave Free took the opportunity to express the importance of giving back and inspiring today’s youth. Video director Dave Meyers then took a moment to sing Kendrick’s praises saying quote, “It takes tremendous artistry to stand out and to be a nonconformist, and Kendrick you are the mountaintop of that.”
In addition to opening tonight’s show, taking home the biggest trophy, Kendrick ALSO had the most nominations of the night. Do you guys agree with that Kendrick had the best video of the year?
