Khalid Wins Best New Artist At 2017 MTV VMAs

Khalid took home Best New Artist at last night’s VMAs and gave an acceptance speech that if you didn’t already love him is sure to make you fall in love instantly.
If you need some inspiration to be great on a Monday morning, Khalid just won his first VMA and he’s 19.
The VMA for Best New Artist is a coveted category because A) winning a VMA is a huge achievement in and of itself, but the fact that it is the best new artist category means that it goes to a newcomer and to win a VMA at the start of your career is crazy. Past winners include Lady Gaga, One Direction, and DNCE and now Khalid who has garnered mainstream success with his debut single “Location.”
He also thanked the city of El Paso for always standing by him as well as MTV, his manager, RCA, and his fans. Also how adorable is he? It was definitely a big night for Khalid seeing as though he beat out Noah Cyrus, Kodak Black, SZA, and Young M.A. He also performed during the pre-show as well as on the main stage with Logic and Alessia Cara in a moving performance of a song called 1-800-273-8255 about Suicide Prevention.
