Sia Talks Writing for Adele, Rihanna and Kanye & This Is Acting

The musical genius that is SIA, is opening up about writing for stars like Rihanna, Kayne West AND EVEN Adele.
The singer/songwriter is dropping some knowledge bombs about writing for some the industry’s biggest names, and you’re not going to believe what she does with the songs that famous artists reject!
During an interview with Rolling Stone, SIA had unlimited fascinating tid-bits about the music industry seeing that not only is she a top 40 artist herself, but she’s also written many songs you love that have gotten picked up by our other favorite artists!
Although she’s had much success in selling her songs to other people, SIA explained that many of them get rejected and end up on the cutting room floor. It’s crazy to think that EVEN SIA is getting rejected, however she’s not drowning in her sorrows… Instead she’s decided to make an entire album of the songs that we once forgotten. The Album is titled “This Is Acting,” and drops on January 29th!
UMM, yes please! The album is made up of songs that were turned down from stars including Shakira, Katy Perry, Rihanna, Adele AND even the QUEEN that is Beyonce.
No hard feelings seeing that something good has come to fruition through all the rejection but SIA remembers multiple times working with artists that didn’t quite pan out. She said QUOTE: “They’ll entice me into a session by saying, ’Rihanna will definitely be there’ or ’Kanye will definitely be there,’ but it’s hilarious because I turn up and, almost always, they never come, so I went into the studio to write for Rihanna with Kanye and neither of them showed up… There were notes from Kanye, and I can’t even remember what they were.”
However that wasn’t the case with Adele… Sia says she and the ‘Hello” singer are both alpha types when it comes to working in the studio, which can bring out a certain hardass attitude of hers that makes her feel “insecure.” …So much so that she even wrote Adele after the session to apologize for maybe coming on too strong, but Adele had no hard feeling writing back saying “What are you talking about!” BUTT the same can’t be said for Katy Perry who turned down both Chandelier and Elastic Heart, which is INSANE. In the long run we’re happy the songs did get released by SIA herself, because… SIA. She talked about KATY saying QUOTE: “She’s also quite dominant, and she’s extremely analytical. I actually quit within the first hour of our first session, I was like, ’Can we both agree this doesn’t work?”
AHHH, AWKWARD! I’m guessing it’s all good though seeing that the songs will now be performed in their most authentic version by SIA herself in the album we’ll all be able to pick up come January 29th!!
