The Fire and Rescue Department have found that the fire at the Darul Quran Ittifaqiyah school in Kuala Lumpur had been set intentionally.
Its director-general Wan Mohd Nor Ibrahim said traces of petrol were found on the towel and shoe racks, as well as the walls on the third floor of the tahfiz school.
He said the fire spread quickly as gas was released from two LPG cylinders in front of the dormitory’s entrance. Based on the findings, investigators have classified the incident as a case of "incendiary fire".
