A group of taxi drivers from various parts of the country have gathered at Padang Merbok, 3km from the Parliament house, since 9am today. Today is the first parliamentary session since the country's landmark 14th general election.
About 150 taxis drivers are protesting against the operations of e-hailing service Grab. They had planned to march towards Parliament to meet with transport minister Anthony Loke.
"GrabCar is an illegal business! We need the rule of law," the protestors chanted.
Kamarudin Mohd Hussain, who is the deputy president of Persim (Malaysian Taxi Drivers Transformation Association) told Malaysiakini that the organisation has prepared a memorandum to submit to the minister.
