Taylor Swift has just been added to the long list of recent celebs caught in an unfortunate act of shade throwing, and this time it’s with… Avril Lavigne…?
After Taylor reportedly “liked” a photo on Tumblr comparing her meet and greets to celebs like Avril Lavigne, the Canadian rocker has officially spoken out…
If there were a book on social media etiquette, the first rule should ALWAYS be to watch what you casually “like” because there are unknown motives and things could get messy, just like this situation with Taylor and Avril Lavigne.
It all started when Avril’s fanbase got hold of a Tumblr post that the queen of Tumblr herself allegedly “liked” comparing awkward celeb meet and greets, including Avril, Kanye West and Katy Perry standing at a clear distance away from their fans, while pictures of Taylor’s meet and greets showed her kissing, hugging and taking selfies with fans.
Avril was quick to defend herself as she obviously strongly disliked the “like” and took to Twitter last night to quote a fan who called out Taylor for liking the post saying QUOTE, Comparison is judging and judging a person does not define who they are it defines who you are. We all Love our fans.” In another tweet, Avril included a photo collage of her hugging and posing with fans, saying, “So let’s keep it all about the love and stay positive.”
Although Taylor has yet to comment or “LIKE” anything that has to do with the alleged shade-throwing, she could just be steering away from the situation because for one, she didn’t even create the post, and two, she could’ve innocently liked a post that showed her fans appreciating her willingness to get to know each and every Swifty on a personal level. And Avril could’ve responded to the post, not as a shade throwing jab, but to simply urge her fans to stay positive no matter what because like she said circa 2002, there’s no need to make things “Complicated…”
But I want to know what you guys think about this whole shade-throwing incident that seems to have gotten out of hand. Do you think Taylor really was throwing shade or do you think the fan bases are stirrin up some trouble? Let me know all your thoughts in the comments section below, but try and keep the shade throwing to a minimum, and after that you can click right over here to check out Taylor’s Wildest Dreams music video promo that’s giving us all the feels and major anticipation for the debut at the VMAs.
