Undersea tunnel project: Guan Eng charged with receiving RM3.3m gratification

Former finance minister Lim Guan Eng has been charged at the Butterworth Sessions Court for allegedly using his position as chief minister to receive personal gratification of RM3.3 million in relation to the Penang undersea tunnel project.

He allegedly received the money to help a tunnel contractor company owned by Zarul Ahmad Mohd Zulkifli between January 2011 and August 2017, at the CM's office in Komtar.

The project involves three paired roads and undersea tunnel linking Butterworth to the Penang island.
