Officers from the Women, Family and Community Development Ministry are in Kelantan to meet the 15-year-old girl who reportedly tied the knot with a 44-year old man, said its minister Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.
This follows a report by the New Straits Times today about the child marriage, which took place at Masjid Kampung Laut in Tumpat in July, upon approval by the Syariah Court.
Wan Azizah, who is also deputy prime minister, said while her officers are there to look into the matter, there might be a legal constraint as the ministry has to abide to Kelantan's laws.
