Opposition leader Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi on Thursday challenged the government to reduce the prices of goods and the cost of living within one year of implementing the sales and services tax (SST) on September 1. The tax, to be re-introduced as SST 2.0, comprised three categories, namely zero per cent, five per cent and 10 per cent , with most goods falling into the zero per cent category or zero-rated. Six per cent will be imposed on services but not all.
