The The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), which comes under the purview of the Human Resource Ministry will regulate the safety of schools nationwide includling Tahfiz facilities and religious schools.
Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said today that NIOSH has been invited to join the task force that will be investigating last week's Tahfiz school fire that killed 23 and left 14 injured.
Zahid added that the task force will encourage NIOSH to assist religious schools - even those that are under the State Government and that they hope to be able to intervene in order to ensure the safety of students and teachers alike.
