Zayn's "Pillowtalk" Debuts Higher Than Any One Direction Song

Zayn is topping the charts, stealing our hearts and all I can say is slay, Zayn, slay.
Zayn’s first single “Pillowtalk” debuted at Number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart this week.
This is obviously a huge accomplishment for the former One Direction member, but are you ready for the craziest part? That’s higher than any 1D song has ever charted.
The closest the boy band has come to taking that top spot was with “Best Song Ever.” It debuted at Number 2 on the Hot 100 Chart back in 2013, but it could never quite overthrow “Blurred Lines” and claim the Number 1 throne.
A little more recently, 1D’s first Zayn-less single “Drag Me Down” made it up to Number 3 on the chart in August of last year.
In addition to shattering 1D’s Hot 100 Chart record, Zayn also set some records of his own this week. He’s the first artist whose name starts with a Z to make it to Number 1. Plus, he’s the first UK artist to enter the charts at the top spot with a debut single.
No surprise, Zayn is overjoyed with the news, he tweeted, QUOTE, “What is gwaning! I can’t explain the love and gratitude I feel today. Thank you for making this happen.”
He also posted an Instagram pic holding a cluster of congratulatory balloons, including a Number 1 balloon for number 1 on the charts.
Zayn fans are also super excited. They even trended #ProudofZayn on Twitter for the singer. Zayn’s debut album ‘Mind of Mind’ is set to come out this March.
