首相马哈迪今日提醒地方官员，不要滥权拖延申请处理，借机向民众索贿。
"我们不再相信现金为王，我们现在相信时间就是金钱。"
马哈迪指时间宝贵，官员必须加快速度完成职责，以确保国家发展不受拖累。他今日在布城于“赋权地方议会”大会致开幕词时，提醒现场超过3000名市长、县市议员及地方政府官员，时间就是金钱。
