WWE star? Or the next President of the United States? Donald Trump’s entrance into the Republican National Convention was like nothing we’ve seen before.
The reactions from Trump’s foggy entrance are getting a little ridiculous to say the least and we’ve picked out the top five.
With the powerful floor lights and slightly blue tinted backdrop, it looked like he was walking on water. Then, slowly from the wings, emerged a silhouette that was unmistakable. Trump. Donald Trump. Taking center stage with a fog machine and the sound of “We are the Champions” filling the air.
Usually, nominees don’t make an appearance until the last night of the convention, but after that grand entrance on just day one, everyone is aware Trump is doing things his own way during this campaign.
But seriously, can we take a second to talk about that fog machine? Twitter is exploding with memes and reactions, comparing his foggy entrance to some of the greats that have come before this. For example, when the Miami Hurricanes ran through the smoke onto the field.
Now that’s a grand entrance. Or check out this matchup between Trump and WWE wrestler the Undertaker.
All Trump needs is a brimmed hat and maybe some lightning bolts projected onto the screen behind him. One user even compared him to Beyoncé. Okay, like that could ever be a thing.
Even singer-songwriter Josh Groban tweeted, “OMG Trump plagiarized my 2002 in concert DVD entrance. I KNEW IT” with a link to his grand entrance.
Okay, now that looks pretty similar. Maybe he’s just a super fan of Josh’s and wanted to reenact the moment? But lastly, people are even comparing his smoky entrance to pics of Prince while performing on stage. Writing quote, “Trump’s entrance was good, but it was no MJ Super Bowl ’93.”
