Ariana Grande Shares Sweet Message To Manchester Victims On One-Year Anniversary

Last May at the end of Ariana Grande’s concert, a suicide bomber killed 22 people and wounded 500 at the Manchester arena. Following the tragic event, the One Love Manchester benefit concert was held twelve days later and raised over $13 million for the We Love Manchester Emergency Fund. Ariana was then named Manchester’s first honorary citizen.
Today, on the anniversary of the bombing, Ariana paid her respects on Twitter writing - "Thinking of you all today and every day. I love you with all of me and am sending you all of the light and warmth I have to offer on this challenging day.” Ariana also included a bee emoji in her post which is the official symbol of Industrious Manchester. Following the massacre last year, Ariana and her crew got bee tattoos to pay homage to the city. The city paid their respects today with a memorial service that welcomed the families of the victims, the emergency services, local and national leaders as well as UK Prime Minister Theresa May and Prince William. The service, held in a cathedral, was shown on a big screen in Manchester and several other cities across Britain.
3,000 singers from local choirs also came together to mark the anniversary in Albert Square. One of the choirs, the Manchester Survivors Choir, is made up of singers who were there the night of the attack. While another one of the choirs performed onstage with Ariana at the One Love concert. Families of the victims were asked to submit a single line from a song that has personal significance for them and for the rest of the week, those lyrics will be projected onto St. Ann’s Church, St. Ann’s Square and New Cathedral street. Bells will also ring out across the city at the exact time the explosion went off last year.
