If there’s one thing we all know and love about Ariana Grande, it’s her classic high ponytail and it won’t be going anywhere for a really long time.
Ariana is Billboard’s latest cover girl and the singer is getting real candid about female popstars, how she manages to stay out of all the drama in the music industry, and her trademark pony.
These days, it’s really hard to stay drama and be feud-free for any celebrity, but Ariana somehow manages to do just that. The singer opened up to Billboard about how she avoids getting sucked in to all the drama and it’s very simple…stay far away from it as possible.
Ari told the music magazine QUOTE, “If people are fighting, I stay as far away as possible. I’ve said this a million times: I hate drama. I love women in the industry. I’m a big fan of all my peers, and I try to keep it a hundred. That’s why I don’t look at anything. I’m like, ‘My song’s out!’ Then I run for the hills.” Some people could probably stand to learn a thing or two from the ‘Greedy’ singer.
While Ari does keep to herself to stay out of all the industry drama, she’s not afraid to voice her opinion about sexism and standing up for other women. During her interview, Ariana took a moment to voice her opinion on the sexism that so blatantly plays out in the press today. She showed the interviewer a collection of tweets that praised male artists like Justin Bieber and Zayn Malik for being shirtless and showing skin while a few others shamed Miley Cyrus and Kim Kardashian for doing the same thing.
The singer said QUOTE, “If you’re going to rave about how sexy a male artist looks with his shirt off and a woman decides to get in her panties or show her boobies for a photoshoot, she needs to be treated with the same awe and admiration. I will say it until I am an old-ass lady with my tits out at Whole Foods. I’ll be in the produce aisle, naked at 95, with a sensible ponytail, one strand of hair left on my head and a Chanel bow. Mark my words. See you there with my 95 dogs.” Ariana does make a great point and I guess that means she’ll also be keeping around her trademark ponytail for as long as she lives. Sorry not sorry.
But, that wasn’t the end of her pet peeves. The “Dangerous Woman” singer also mentioned how much it irks her when the media attaches her name or any other female popstar’s name to someone they used to date. Ariana went on to say, “I’ll never be able to swallow the fact that people feel the need to attach a successful woman to a man when they say her name. I saw a headline – draw your own conclusions [on the subjects] because it’ll be so much drama that I don’t want – they called someone another someone’s ex, and that pissed me off. This person has had so many great records in the last year, and she hasn’t been dating him forever. Call her by her name!”
Even though the singer made sure not to call anyone out by name during this particular moment, the magazine assumed that Ari is talking about Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber’s past relationship, which played out in the tabloids even after Jelena had broken up. Hopefully this make a change in the way the media addresses a female celebrity!
