Ariana Grande speaks up about Sam and Cat getting officially cancelled.
Now, as you probably recall, there have been a number of rumors swirling about the Nickelodeon show's fate since April thanks to some drama between Jennette McCurdy and Ariana during the Kids' Choice Awards, but now we know the news is actually confirmed.
Ariana released a lengthy statement via her Facebook, with the first part saying:
QUOTE "So the news is out about Sam & Cat. I felt it wasn't my place to make any sort of announcement so I kept quiet until now. I want to thank Nickelodeon for making a childhood dream of mine come true, for being a family to me, for being so accommodating and supportive of my multitasking with my music career, and for of course introducing me to many of my fans however many years ago."
She thanked the show's creator Dan Schneider, as well as the show's crew, and went on to say that one of her favorite things about her character Cat is that she never lost her sense of wonder. AG said that as we grow up, we become more and more jaded and fearful of how we come across to other people, adding that we hold back a little more, protect ourselves a little more, but Cat never did that. QUOTE "To me that's the bravest, most special thing about her."
(Actual quote) "One of my favorite things about Cat was that she never lost her sense of wonder. As we grow up we become more and more jaded and fearful of how we come across. We hold back a little more, protect ourselves a little more and although Cat goes through the same ridicule as anybody else does growing up, she never changed or lost her childlike wonder. To me that's the bravest, most special thing about her."
Though AG didn't address any rumors as to WHY the show was cancelled nor did she even make mention of her Sam & Cat co-star Jennette McCurdy, but she did give a big thank you thank you to her fans.
"Lastly, thank you to my fans who have been with me since all of this started... you are the most loyal, dedicated and continuously loving supporters I could ever imagine. We've been through so much and you are still here... and we've got a long way to go. Thank you for believing in me, accepting me and loving me. I love you forever."
And there you have it. Bit of a bummer to start off the week, right? Though it's sad to see this show go, we've got Ariana's music to look forward to, right?! Right. And if you're a huge show fan, there's always reruns.
