Ariana Grande let the world know that objectifying and disrespecting women is unacceptable after a fan treated her like a piece of meat.
Ariana made a point to say that these types of instances need to be discussed more often in the effort to prevent them from happening and I couldn’t agree more.
Ariana jumped on Twitter yesterday to address the jarring experience explaining that what started as a friendly fan encounter left her feeling sick to her stomach. Ariana and Mac Milller went out to get food last night and as they were making their way back to the car, a fan followed behind to tell Mac that he is a huge fan. Ariana explained that she found his enthusiasm cute and exciting until the fan said QUOTE – “Ariana is sexy as hell man I see you, I see you hitting that!!!” Need I remind you that Ariana was sitting right there when that was said. So understandably outraged, Ariana wrote a lengthy statement addressing the situation on Twitter saying QUOTE - "This may not seem like a big deal to some of you but I felt sick and objectified. I've felt really quiet and hurt since that moment. Things like this happen all the time and are the kinds of moments that contribute to women's sense of fear and inadequacy. I am not a piece of meat that a man gets to utilize for his pleasure. I'm an adult human being in a relationship with a man who treats me with love and respect.” She went on to say - "We need to talk about these moments openly because they are harmful and they live on inside of us as shame. We need to share and be vocal when something makes us feel comfortable, because if we don't, it will just continue. We are not objects or prizes. We are QUEENS.”
Queens indeed. Good for Ariana for speaking out about this. I want to hear what you guys think about this incident and Ari’s response so sound off in the comment section below and then click right over here to check out a DIY Spa Day Fail on Beauty Break.
