So if you already can’t get enough of Becky, she’s now got the best of both worlds tackling an entire new character anddddd may even contribute her famous pipes.
So if you haven’t yet been familiarized with Becky’s insanely catchy pop tunes, her guest starring role on season two of Empire will surely transform you into an honorary Beaster for life, annnd also because she’s promising to deliver just as much attitude as the sassiest character on the show…
During her interview with Entertainment Weekly, Becky opened up about not playing ‘Becky G’, but playing her character named Valentina, saying QUOTE, “Let’s just put it this way: they were calling me baby Cookie on set. I’m feisty. Like, the Becky G that’s right here and sweet and excited? Valentina is a totally different person. And that was so fun for me to play, because I love acting and I have yet to really pursue that until this opportunity came along and I felt in my gut that it was right and I just wanted to go for it.”
And as if there isn’t enough drama on the show as it is, Becky hinted that her character will be contributing even more shocking buzz saying, “There’s a lot of drama. In these next few episodes I was like, ‘I can’t believe this is going to go down. Everybody’s going to be so surprised.’ But yeah, especially my scenes, for sure.”
Becky revealed she even had to go through the entire audition process for the show, just like anybody else. She recalls hanging out and playing music at Fox studios one day and joking around, Becky said, “Yo, if you ever want to put me in something!” And they’re like, ‘Oh, actually, we have enough artists in guests spots on so you couldn’t play Becky G on the show, but there’s actually a character that would work really well.’ So, I went through the entire audition phase; had to go to producers and directors and I earned the spot. It was an honor.
And finally, the burning question remains: Will we get to hear our girl singing at any point throughout her Empire debut?! And the answer is HECK YES. Although Becky won’t be singing as herself on the show, we’ll still get to hear her SLAY those vocals so brace yourselves for an epic season two, which premieres next Wednesday, September 23.
