Get ready Swifties, because The Cats movie director just dished details about Taylor Swift’s role in the film.
OMG, you guys! We seriously couldn’t be more excited!
Aside from her Reputation World Tour, I think we can all agree that Taylor Swift has been keeping a relatively low profile these days, and I don’t know about y’all, but I’ve just about had it up to here! Like, yeah… I get that everyone has a right to privacy and everything, but I think I can speak for most people when I say I miss Taylor!
Don’t worry, though, you guys. There is something Taylor-related to look forward to in the coming months. Even if we don’t get new music from the singer for a while, one thing’s for certain: We’ll still be able to hear her sweet voice on the big screen next year! Need I remind you? Tay is tapped to star in the latest film adaptation of the Broadway musical Cats!
Along with Jennifer Hudson, James Corden and Ian McKellen, TayTay is being featured in the Universal Pictures production, and personally, I can’t wait! However, her involvement has remained somewhat of a secret… until now. Andrew Lloyd Webber, who composed the musical, spoke with Vulture at the annual American Theatre Wing gala about the film, and spilled a little bit of tea (or, milk, as Vulture so cleverly called it) about Taylor’s role in the film.
According to Andrew, T.Swift will reportedly play the flirty Bombalurina or the skittish Demeter, the duo that sings “Macavity the Mystery Cat,” if you’re familiar with the show.
Andrew said, “She’s going to play one or other of the ‘Macavity.’ Well, basically, [director] Tom Hooper thought it was a really good idea and, of course, she loves cats. We’ll see. I mean, I haven’t met her, so I’m looking forward to meeting her and seeing her [at work].” OMG, SAME!
If you’re anything like me, you’re probably counting down the days until Cats hit theaters, but if you’re not ready to start the countdown just yet, just be prepared because it’s scheduled for release on December 20, 2019. Sure, that’s a long time from now, but until then, I’ll be passing the time by putting Reputation on repeat and I highly suggest you do the same!
Anyways, what do you guys think about Taylor playing one of the Macavity girls? As always, let us know all of your thoughts in the comments section below. Thanks for watching!
