Sorry Taylor, but we absolutely cannot calm down because huge news just broke for us Swifties, Taylor Swift is Vogue’s September 2019 cover star!
What’s up guys? It’s Dani Golub here with Clevver News and our girl Taylor Swift’s already great month, seems to just keep getting better. She just revealed that she is on the cover of Vogue’s most coveted edition of the year, the September issue.
And in case you don’t know the significance behind why September is the most desired cover, in short, it's the start of the new fashion season in New York and some other celebs who have been given this honor include Lady Gaga, Beyoncé, and Jennifer Lawrence.
It’s been important since Vogue’s editor in chief, Anna Wintour put Naomi Campbell on the cover of her very first September issue in 1989.
And while I’d like to believe that’s a coincidence, with Taylor Swift, pretty much everything is an Easter egg so give me a second while I write that down.
Ok anyway, back to this issue. In Taylor’s Vogue interview she spoke about her new album Lover, public scrutiny, politics, and more.
And this interview feels different for Taylor. Unlike during the Reputation album cycle in 2017, Taylor is really opening herself up to talking about everything.
She discussed how Lover might be her favorite album yet and said quote, “There are so many ways in which this album feels like a new beginning. This album is really a love letter to love, in all of its maddening, passionate, exciting, enchanting, horrific, tragic, wonderful glory.”
She also spoke about her support of the LGBTQ+ community and talked about a time when her friend Todrick Hall asked what she would do if her son was gay.
Her response was quote, “The fact that he had to ask me... shocked me and made me realize that I had not made my position clear enough or loud enough. If my son was gay, he'd be gay. I don't understand the question. If he was thinking that, I can't imagine what my fans in the LGBTQ community might be thinking. It was kind of devastating to realize that I hadn't been publicly clear about that.”
Another gem from the article is that Taylor reveals two more of the song titles off her upcoming album Lover.
One is called Lover, like the album, and the other is called The Man which is about her wondering how people would’ve spoke about her in her career if she were a man.
Taylor also posted a few times about the cover on Instagram with one post’s caption looking suspiciously like song lyrics.
It said quote, “My heart’s been borrowed and yours has been blue. All’s well that ends well, to end up with you.”
Now if I know anything about Taylor Swift, which trust me, I know a lot, that isn’t just a cute caption. That’s gotta be a lyric from Lover.
Which by the way comes out in just about two weeks and I cannot wait.
But until then I’ll just be reading and re-reading this article hunting for Easter eggs.
I want to know what you guys think of the article and the cover.
Did you catch any other hints about the album in this article? And are you also going to buy like 20 copies of this cover to hang around your house? Or is that just me…
