Joseph Kahn is Taylor Swift’s go-to music video guy. He’s directed tons of her easter egg filled videos… including Taylor’s “Look What You Made Me Do” comeback video. In it, there’s a scene which fans believe looks a LOT like Beyonce’s “Formation” video.
Joseph Kahn has now flipped the switch on those accusations. In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, he not only defends Taylor’s video but admits he believes it was actually Beyonce that copied Taylor Swift. Okay, calm down. We’re not done yet.
Joseph told the LA Times QUOTE, “I suddenly understood the conflict of what’s going on in society and what battle rap serves, what prism to look at the movie through. It’s not ‘Formation’ at all. They try to say she’s wearing a black crop top and Beyonce wore a black crop top. But they don’t realize in 2015 in ‘Bad Blood,’ Taylor Swift was wearing a black crop top. I really do think, by the way, that Beyonce copied ‘Bad Blood.’”
Woah. And when word of his interview got around Joseph tweeted, “Come get it Beyhive. The candy is right here.” Just a couple weeks ago Joseph also toyed with the Beyhive. When the first comparisons to “Formation” were made he shut down the rumors tweeting, “I’ve worked with Beyonce a few times. She’s an amazing person. The #LWYMMDvideo is not in her art space. Love and respect to Bey.”
If you’re confused about Joseph deciding to turn on Beyonce, we’ve got the answer. Perez Hilton tweeted to Joseph saying, “you were just trolling right???” To which Joseph retweeted and replied, “Yes. The world is full of stupid motherf*ckers.”
So if you initially sensed a bit of sarcasm in the LA Times interview, you were right. Joseph is known for his witty and antagonistic sense of humor. It turns out these comments were all a ploy to get attention for his new film BODIED that he directed. Joseph tweeted, “Beyhive is the official street marketing team for BODIED. Thanks!” Looks like the score is Joseph: one. Internet: zero.
What do you think of Joseph trolling the Beyhive to get press? Tell all your first thoughts on that down below! Now click here to find out JUST how much Beyonce’s 36th birthday cake actually cost. As always I’m your host Emile Ennis Jr, and I’ll see you guys next time back here on Clevver.
