What do Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, and Beyonce all have in common? They lead in nominations for the 2015 Video Music Awards. via Beats 1 “Chart” show on Apple Music.
Tswizzle leads the pack with 9 nominations including Video of the year , best female video of the year, and best collaboration for Bad Blood featuring Kendrick Lamar. And she seems pretty pumped about the 9 noms, she posted this Instagram video kicking major butt
And up against Taylor for the biggest category of the night,. video of the year is Queen B for 7/11, Ed Sheeran – “Thinking Out Loud”, Mark Ronson ft. Bruno Mars – “Uptown Funk”, Kendrick Lamar – “Alright”
And Although Beyonce is sitting pretty with 5 total nominations, crowd favorite, Ed Sheeran one upped her with 6 total nominations including best male video, best pop video, and best choreography for his song “Don’t”.
BUt don’t worry, we can’t imagine that beyonce doesn’t go home with at least one moonman. She’s also in the running for best female video, best pop video, best choreography, and best editing.
Also in the running for best female video is Ellie Goulding, Sia, Nicki, and as we mentioned earlier, ms taylor swift.
Best Pop Video has tough competition, veterans like Beyonce and Maroon 5 are up against Mark ronson ft Bruno mars, Ed Sheeran, and again, Taylor.
Now best hip hop video is up for grabs, Nicki Minaj, Fetty Wap, Kendrick lamar, Wiz Khalifa, and Big Sean are all in the running. That’s going to be a hard one to decide on.
Best collaboration is a fun category because who doesn’t love seeing their favorite artists team up to make great music? The nominees are Taylor ft. Kendrick Lamar for Bad Blood, Mark ROnson ft Bruno Mars for Uptown Funk, Wiz Khalifa ft. Charlie Puth – “See You Again”, Ariana Grande & The Weeknd – “Love Me Harder”, Jessie J, Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj – “Bang Bang" Now, I guess Ariana has a better chance of winning that one because she is nominated twice in the category, but come on, that award has to go to Mark and Bruno for Uptown Funk, right?!
In a category that I love, Video with a social message, the nominees are Jennifer Hudson, COlbie Caillet, Big Sean ft Kanye and John Legend, Rihanna, and Wale.
And we cant forget about the men. Best Male Video nominees include Ed Sheeran, Mark ronson ft. Bruno, Kendrick lamar, the weeknd, and Nick Jonas.
And finally, one of the most exciting categories to watch is artist of the year. Now some say it’s a jinx, but I think it’s awesome to bring attention to up and coming artists. The nominees are Fetty Wap – “Trap Queen”, Vance Joy – “Riptide”, George Ezra – “Budapest”, James Bay – “Hold Back The River”, FKA Twigs – “Pendulum”
Now usually I would say, make sure to tune in to the VMA’s to see who is going to win but this year, Miley Cyrus is hosting so there is a whole other reason to tune in. RIGHT?!
The VMAs will air Sunday, Aug. 30, at 9 p.m. ET from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. Will you be watching?
