2016 Grammy Award Nominations Announced- Taylor Swift, Kendrick Lamar, The Weeknd

The 58th Annual Grammy Award Nominations were announced in part by singer Alicia Keys this morning on CBS’ morning show. Rapper Kendrick Lamar completely stunned, dominating the nominations with a total of 11 nods! Following Kendrick is Taylor Swift and The Weekend each with an impressive 7 nominations. If you recall, Taylor’s “Shake It Off” track was nominated at the 2015 awards, but the rest of her 1989 album didn’t meet last year’s cutoff therefore it’s eligible for this year’s show. 1989 is included in the coveted Album of the Year category which sees a wide range of albums up for the nom also including: Alabama Shakes Sound & Color, Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp a Butterfly, Chris Stapleton’s Traveller and The Weeknd’s Beauty Behind the Madness.
Other big nominees include Bruno Mars and Ed Sheeran each with 2 nods, Nicki Minaj snagged 1 with Best Rap Album for The Pinkprint, Maroon 5 also received a single nomination for their song “Sugar”. Our man Justin Bieber managed to squeeze in a nomination for his collaboration with Skrillex and Diplo for “Where Are U Now” in Best Dance Recording. Another major category is Song of the Year which continues the diversified theme of the award show which includes: “Alright” from Kendrick Lamar, Taylor Swift’s “Blank Space”, Little Big Town’s “Girl Crush”, “See You Again” by Wiz Khalifa featuring Charlie Puth, and Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud”. The anticipated Best New Artist award category sees James Bay, Sam Hunt, Tori Kelly, Meghan Trainor and Courtney Barnett up for the award. Needless to say, we’re looking forward to the 2016 Grammys! This show is always filled with shocking duet performances and super glam fashion. The show will be held in Los Angeles February 15, 2016 on CBS.
