Who knew T. Swift was a huge Kendrick Lamar fan? Taylor Swift took to her Instagram to lip sync to a Kendrick rap song… all to celebrate 1989’s platinum certification. What happened is her brand new album sold 1.3 million copies in its first week (that’s huge) so she posted a video performing perfectly to “Backseat Freestyle”, while in the front seat. Taylor captioned, “Industry experts predicted 1989 would sell 650k first week. You went and bought 1.287 million albums. AND IT’S GOT ME LIKE”:

Upon finding out that Taylor is a big fan of “Backseat Style” Kendrick told FADER QUOTE - “I enjoy great music outside of my own music all the time, so I definitely can see where she’s coming from when she says that she listens to the record, and it’s a great thing for her to acknowledge that and put that good energy out into the world like that.” Um so future Kendrick/Taylor collaboration? Yes please.
Not shocking to me, Taylor is killing it with 1989, and along with her new platinum certification, Taylor has broken some additional records with the album including being the only artist who can say she’s had three albums hit the million mark within the first week of release thanks to Red, Speak Now, and now 1989. The new album is also one of only two albums this year to sell a million copies along with Disney’s Frozen. Mind you, that Frozen has sold a collective 3.2 million copies after being released in 2013 and 1989 has already sold over 1.2 million copies in just a week people. Brush off that shoulder Taylor.
