What’s the best revenge? Killing people with success. And although Taylor Swifts newest song Look What You Made Me Do has had very mixed reviews there is simply no denying that her comeback song is a chart topping, record breaking, money making HIT!
Allow me to break down the stats.
YouTube just announced that the video had the biggest 24-hour debut in YouTube history. In its first day, the clip earned 43.2 million views, toppling the previous record holder — Psy’s 2013 video for “Gentleman,” with 36 million views.
If you break that down that’s literally 30,000 views every minute. Her video is currently at 76 million views and the number continues to rise. Even her lyric video broke a record, it received 19 million views in its first 24 hours, easily breaking the previous record held by The Chainsmokers and Coldplay's "Something Just Like This.”
Bare with me people there is still more accomplishments that I need to break down... lets talk Spotify. The revenge song was streamed almost 8 million times in its first 24 hours, which broke her good friend Ed Sheeran’s previous record of 7 million streams in the first day for his song "Shape of You."
MIC DROP… and its only been 4 days! So the only record to beat is the most sales in a week which Adele is currently holding the crown for. Her song Hello sold 1.1 million in a week…but it look like Taylor might be dethroning her with her track quite possibly becoming the biggest selling song in its debut week but we will know for sure in a couple of days.
Like I said before love it or hate it numbers don’t lie. Taylor is back and in a big way! Are you guys surprised by the success of Look What You Made Me Do let me know in the comments below and after that click here to check out how Kim and Kanye reacted to her video.
