Let’s be real, you guys. Throughout her career, Taylor Swift has broken tons of records. I mean, her Fearless album is the most-awarded country album of all-time, she has the most top ten debuts on the Billboard Hot 100 in history, and she’s the only artist to have three albums sell more than one million copies in their first week.
Before now, Tay also held the record for most-viewed video within 24 hours on YouTube, but OMG, you guys! BTS just broke that record with their new music video for the song “Idol.”
That’s right! According to ET Online, BTS’s “Idol” was viewed over 56 million times in the first 24 hours of its release. This beats Taylor’s views by a long shot. After premiering her video for “Look What You Made Me Do” during the 2017 Video Music Awards, the music video was watched just over 43 million views in a day.
That’s not all, though! The K-pop boy band also beat their own record as well! Their video for “Fake Love” reached 35.9 million views within 24 hours back in May, which made it the biggest music premiere of 2018… until now.
Of course, given the fact that the boy band just released their latest album, Love Yourself: Answer on Friday, this is probably the first of many broken records to come in this new era, and honestly, it’s super exciting that they’re totally changing the game! It seems like we’re not the only ones who are stoked for these guys either, since Nicki Minaj posted on Instagram to promote her collaboration with the band, and to congratulate them on their success so far.
Nicki wrote, QUOTE, “US ITunes Chart. They did NOT come to play wit y’all. My version of #Idol with #BTS is out now! Congrats to them on a great new album. I’m honored to be a part of it. S/O to #KOREA!!”
Like Nicki, fans are absolutely thrilled that BTS is SLAYING right now, even if they are dethroning music industry heavy hitters like Taylor Swift. How do you guys feel about the K-pop group breaking Taylor’s previously held record? As always, let us know what you think in the comments section below. Thanks for watching!
