Probably not- they’ve never feuded publicly and Taylor is as sweet as honey. But it is true that Adele’s name will replace Swift’s in the record books for now.
Taylor previously held the record for most viewed video in 24 hours with “Bad Blood” viewed 20.1 million times in one day. But when Adele released her new single “Hello,” on October 22nd, the video was viewed 27.7 million times in a 24-hour time span.
Previous to Taylor holding the record, Nicki Minaj’s Anaconda was the most viewed with 19.6 million, and before that it was Miley Cyrus with 19.3 million. Well, on the bright side,we are naming all women here, so that’s pretty cool. And, Taylor is still doing ok…she still holds the top spot for most viewed Vevo video of all time…so there are no shortage of record breaking titles on her resume, or Wikipedia.
This isn’t the first time that Adele has musically dethroned Tay. Remember when they were both nominated for Best Original Motion Picture Song at the 2013 Golden Globe Awards? Taylor was nominated for “Safe and Sound” from “Hunger Games” but Adele walked away with the win for her song “Skyfall” from James Bond.
It looks like Adele’s musical break has made fans only want her music more. So everyone, you’ll be happy to hear that the 27 year old will appear on SNL on November 21st as the musical guest when Mathew McCaughey hosts. The last time she was on SNL was back in 2008 when she performed "Chasing Pavements" off her very first album, 19. This is exciting people!
What do you think of Adele dethroning Tay for most viewed video in a 24-hour time span? AND do you think Adele will debut some new material on SNL in a few weeks? I hope so.
