2016 MTV EMA Nominations Announced - Bieber & Beyonce Lead

The 2016 MTV EMA Nominees have finally been announced and to no one’s surprise, Beyonce and Justin Bieber are in the lead with the most nominations.
Beyonce and the Biebs may be in the lead with the most MTV EMA nominations, but they aren’t the only ones in the running for multiple awards.
Aside from Justin and Beyonce leading the pack with a whopping five nominations each, Adele, Rihanna, and Coldplay all follow the two popstars closely with four nominations with Shawn Mendes, Lukas Graham, and Drake are right behind them with three noms.
In the Best Song category, Adele, Justin, Lukas, Rihanna, and Mike Posner are all going head to head for that award while Yonce, Coldplay, Kanye West, Tame Impala, and The Weeknd are battling it out for the Best Video award.
Naturally, Adele, Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, and Sia are all up against each other for Best Female. Meanwhile, Justin Bieber is up against Shawn Mendes, The Weeknd, Drake, and Calvin Harris for the title of Best Male.
Adele and Beyonce have once again found themselves competing in the same category of Best Live – Coldplay, Green Day, and Twenty One Pilots are also up for the same award. Fifth Harmony managed to get themselves a nomination in the Best Pop category, but the girl group is up against the likes of Ariana Grande, Justin Bieber, Rihanna, Selena Gomez, and Shawn Mendes. That’s definitely going to be a hard one to vote for.
There are quite a few firsts this year. Both DNCE and Zayn (as a solo artist) received their first EMA nomination this year. The group is up for Best New against Bebe Rexha, Lukas Graham, The Chainsmokers, and Zara Larsson while Zayn is up against Little Mix, Coldplay, Adele, and Years & Years for the Best UK & Ireland Act.
