The 2018 Billboard Music Awards nominees have just been revealed and a TON of our faves are up for a coveted award.
Does award show season ever end?
The competition is TOUGH for all of the artists nominated for a Billboard Music Award this year. The show is a little over a month away and it’s been revealed that Camila Cabello, Taylor Swift, and Ed Sheeran are among many talented artists who are up for an award.
In the lead with 15 nominations apiece are Ed, Kendrick Lamar, and Bruno Mars – these guys are also all up for the Top Artist Award where they are going head to head against Drake, who has been nominated for a total of nine awards, and Taylor with a total of five.
Post Malone follows Kendrick, Ed, and Bruno’s lead with 12 BBMA nominations while Imagine Dragons is up for 10, Justin Bieber and Cardi B are tied for eight and Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee up for seven awards each.
The amount of nominations an artist receives is a pretty big deal, but let’s put all of that aside and talk about Cardi B for a second. After slaying 2017 with hit song after hit song, Cardi is up for a whopping EIGHT awards and they’re all pretty notable categories. Cardi is in the running for the Top New Artist award where she finds herself up against 21 Savage, Camila Cabello, Khalid, and Kodak Black. She’s also going head to head against Camila (again), Drake, Sam Hunt, and Ed Sheeran for the Billboard Chart Achievement Award – not too shabby for a girl from the Bronx.
Much like Cardi, Camila is also up for some pretty big awards herself. On top of the two we listed earlier, Camila is also up for Top Collaboration for her song “Havana” and she’s facing some tough competition in the Top Female Artist category against the likes of Cardi, Halsey, Demi Lovato, and her bestie, Taylor Swift.
Speaking of Taylor, she was notably missing from the music game in early 2017 but after releasing Reputation later that year Tay still managed to find herself up for some of the biggest awards of the night like Top Artist, Top Female Artist, and Top Selling Album.
The 2018 Billboard Music Awards is set to air May 20th on NBC.
