Taylor Swift Being Honored With The First-Ever Taylor Swift Award

Earlier this year, Taylor became the first woman to win Album of the Year twice at the Grammys and now she’s being immortalized with an award of her very own.
Did I also mention that Taylor will actually be the first person to receive this prestigious Taylor Swift Award as well? While Tay Tay isn’t exactly the first person to have this honor bestowed upon her, Michael Jackson aka the reigning King of Pop was the first to be given a self-titled award back in 1990, being second to MJ is still an amazing feat for the pop star! Maybe Taylor should change her lucky number 13 to the number 2.
The BMI Pop Music Awards announced on Monday that at their 64th annual award show, Taylor herself will in fact receive the Taylor Swift Award. The company explained their reasoning behind this move in a press release by saying QUOTE, “Taylor Swift has transformed pop culture through her songs, artistry and indomitable spirit. We felt it was appropriate to award Taylor with an honor that is as unique and special as she is.” I seriously can’t imagine anyone else receiving the Taylor Swift Award besides the singer herself. The bar for it has been set very high!
But of course, sweeping award shows, transforming pop culture, and getting an award named after her aren’t the only things Tay Tay has been doing. Girlfriend single-handedly brought up Drake’s iTunes sales of the song ‘Jumpman’ up to 431 percent globally – just for rapping to it in her ad for Apple Music! Anything and everything Taylor touches seriously turns into gold.
