For years, we longed to live in Rosewood, to be friends with Aria, Spencer, Hannah, and Emily, and to experience one of the greatest mysteries IRL that we couldn’t have imagined would become part of our lives in the way that it did. And now, not long after our favorite show left our TV screens for good, we get to experience it all over again, through a new story that takes place in Beacon Heights.
Pretty Little Liars showrunner, Marlene King, is at the helm of the new show, The Perfectionaists, which is based on another book series from PLL author, Sara Shepard, and Marlene just dropped some major details about what we can expect from what is sure to become our new obsession.
Speaking to TV Line at the Freeform Summit, Marlene dished QUOTE “The show takes place in the Pacific Northwest, and we wanted to be true to that, to Sara’s book,” Plus, I really liked the way Rosewood became a character on Pretty Little Liars, [so I wanted to] have a new character, a new town. Portland and the Pacific Northwest are so moody and creepy to begin with. That’s going to be a lot of fun to explore.”
Creepy new town? Count us in. Marlene also revealed that the show has a whole lot of similarities with PLL, saying QUOTE “There is a big mystery, and there is a murder, and there are some characters who are a fractured group at the beginning of our story, and through a murder they become friends. So it’s similar in that regard, but it’s a whole new mystery, a whole new murder. We also have Alison and Mona coming from PLL to Beacon Heights, and that’ll all make sense when you see the pilot.”
Oh yeah, did you forget? Mona and Allison are back and we are living. for. It.
But wait for it, because your excitement is only beginning. Trust. Marlene dropped a major bombshell- more PLL faces would QUOTE “eventually” be making their way to Beacon Heights too. So… any predictions on who?
All we know is that this show is about to hit every nerve that finally healed after 7 years of PLL, and to solidify that, Marlene spilled QUOTE “We’re meeting four new characters who are Perfectionists — and one of them won’t make it to the end of the pilot.”
