There’s nothing like a well executed prank and Gigi Hadid did it with a false alarm hair chop. She posted an instagram photo looking just like her mom Yolanda with a chopped blond cut and people freaked out saying things like “Noooo” and “No queen don’t do that.” But then Gigi changed the caption to put people out of their misery saying “Jokes Jokes happy april fools day.” I thought it looked pretty good actually.
Katy Perry also took advantage of her extensive instagram following for a little April Fools mischief. Knowing good and well that her fans have been eagerly waiting for the release of her new album she posted a throwback photo of her chillin in a sports bra with the caption - "I'm proud to announce the cover for my 4th album!" She then added the punchline – “Happy April Fools!” to put people out of their misery.
Rebel Wilson took her prank to the next level by faking a collapse on the set of Pitch Perfect. Check out the video:
She captioned her evil scheme - "Tragic accident on the set of Pitch Perfect 3...just kidding! Happy April Fools Pitches! I got you!!!" People always say you shouldn’t cry wolf, but that was hilarious.
Michael Phelps chimed in on the April Fool’s fun by giving fans false hope on Twitter saying - “Some dreams/goals you just can't get rid of...been doing a lot of thinking n I've decided that I'm going 2 make another comeback! #tokyo2020” After letting fans squirm for a solid 10 minutes, he jumped back in to hit them with the punchline saying - "#aprilfools I'm not actually coming back sorry for getting some of yalls hopes up.” It’s a cruel world we live in.
Shawn Johnson did a classic I’m pregnant joke by posting a photo sporting a baby bump with the caption – “Hey guys.... soooo @andrewdeast and I thought it was about time we told you!!!!!!!! I love you babe! #babyonboard.” After people freaked the hell out she quickly cleared up all confusion by writing - "My sincerest apologies. I never meant to target, offend, or come across as insensitive. I tried on a movie prop. Please forgive. #aprilfools."
But the jokes continued with George [Ta-kay] when he announced that he planned to run for Congress. He wrote - "My hope is to challenge Davin Nunes for his seat [in California's 22nd District] in 2018." He even got a few celebrity endorsements including ones from Sophia Bush and Mark Ruffalo. But then George had enough fun and revealed that he was just messing around saying QUOTE – “No, I'm not running for Congress. Happy 4/1! But Jon Ossoff is on 4/18. Help him win. Let's flip Congress in '18.”
And I know the Shade room isn’t a celebrity but the news site is famous for its breaking stories and on April Fools day they posted a story on instagram saying that the audio from the infamous 2014 elevator showdown between Solange and Jay-Z had been leaked. So of course everyone was pressing their screens for sound and after 10 minutes of frustrated confusion, realized that it was just a cruel joke. Why Solange was karate chopping Jay-Z? The world may never know.
