The Star Wars Celebration in Orlando was a bittersweet occasion due to Carrie Fisher’s absence, but the late Princess Leia was given a helluva tribute.
The Star Wars Celebration in Orlando revealed a tribute to Carrie Fisher that perfectly captivated what an incredible, talented, witty, and vivacious character she truly was--both on and off screen.
As well as being incredibly moving, the tribute also showed just how brilliantly funny Carrie was…
Carrie was definitely an unconventional choice for a Princess, which is exactly what made her perfect, and it’s obvious from the tribute that her Star Wars family clearly appreciated every facet to her personality.
Carrie’s daughter Billie Lourd also made a surprise appearance at the Star Wars Celebration to pay tribute to her mother, and even wore a custom Tom Ford dress that paid homage to Princess Leia’s iconic outfit. Billie gave a beautiful speech about her mother during the Anniversary Panel, and explained to fans why Carrie loved her fans as much as they loved her.
Billie also shared with the crowd three things her mother taught her, the first of which was Princess Leia’s “You’re my only hope” monologue from Star Wars: A New Hope. Billie impressively recited the speech word for word, and then proceeded to wow the crowd with two more nuggets of Carrie Fisher wisdom..
Damn, I wish we could all have a mom like Princess Leia!
