Billie Lourd gives a message of encouragement amidst the release of Carrie Fisher’s autopsy results
Talk about a brave young woman- we could all be inspired by Billie Lourd
The Los Angeles County Coroner’s office has released the official results of actress Carrie Fisher’s autopsy after her tragic & untimely death this past December. While they can say what contributed to the late actor’s death, the main cause could not be determined. According to the office, Carrie’s death was, in part, due to sleep apnea and QUOTE “other factors.” Those other factors may include atherosclerotic heart disease factors and drug use, as the coroner also revealed that Carrie had taken multiple drugs leading up to her death.
Now daughter and actress, Billie Lourde, is speaking up about her mother’s results. In a statement to Entertainment Weekly, Billie said QUOTE “My mom battled drug addiction and mental illness her entire life. She ultimately died of it.”
Billie went on to urge people to seek help if they too are suffering the same way her mother did. She said her mothe was QUOTE “purposefully open in all of her work about the social stigmas surrounding these diseases. She talked about the shame that torments people and their families confronted by these diseases. I know my Mom, she’d want her death to encourage people to be open about their struggles. Seek help, fight for government funding for mental health programs. Shame and those social stigmas are the enemies of progress to solutions and ultimately a cure. Love you Momby.”
Billie is definitely showing a level of bravery and courage after losing both her mother and grandmother within days of one another just a few months ago, and we only hope her words inspire others as much as they have inspired us.
