Daisy Ridley shares the incredible advice she got from Carrie Fisher before her tragic passing
Advice from a princess should always be taken to heart
The highy anticipated Star Wars: The Last Jedi doesn’t hit theatres until this coming December, but the excitement is SO REAL because, well, Star Wars is amazing. & also because we can’t wait to see Carrie Fisher again, who did complete her work in the film before tragically passing away this past December. Now, Carrie’s costars are looking back on their fondest memories with her & sharing some of the best advice they received from her while filming Star Wars in the latest Vanity Fair cover story.
Daisy Ridley opened up to Vanity Fair saying QUOTE “Carrie lived her life the way she wanted to, never apologizing for anything ,which is something I’m still learning,” and further opening up about the pressures of leading the new Star Wars trilogy, Daisy said QUOTE “Embarrassed is the wrong word, but there were times through it all when I felt like I was… shrinking. And she told me never to shrink away from it- that it should be enjoyed.”
That incredible advice for Daisy was also shared with her costar, John Boyega, who upon being cast in The Force Awakens, was subjected to horrible racist remarks from the internet trolls. In the midst of the first trailer for Episode VII being released, Carrie simply told John QUOTE “You just do you.”
We couldn’t have said it better ourselves. Now, Star Wars celebrates it’s 40th anniversary, TODAY! since A New Hope did debut in just 32 theatres on May 25th exactly 40 years ago in 1977. Among the celebration, the princess is definitely greatly missed, and will be as Star Wars completes it’s latest trilogy first with Episode IIX this December and then Episode IX, which has not yet been announced. Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy told Vanity Fair that Carrie Fisher QUOTE “thought IX would be her movie. And it would have been.”
But how Carrie’s character will be handled in the upcoming movies remains to be revealed, with fans speculating that motion capture technology is a possibility, and others suggesting it’s far too soon to consider replacing Carrie with CGI, however it will be quite some time before Episode IX is released, with Vanity Fair announcing that filming will begin next January and the movie will premiere in theatres in May of 2019. Until then, we can look forward to enjoying Carrie Fisher’s incredible presence in Episode IIX.
Oscar Isaac gave Vanity Fair a little sneak peak of what’s to come with Leia saying QUOTE “We did this scene where Carrie has to slap me," he said. "I think we did 27 takes in all, and Carrie leaned into it every time, man. She loved hitting me. Rian found such a wonderful way of working with her, and I think she really relished it." Well, if there is anything we know about Carrie Fisher, we know she’s a badass.
