Star Wars’ leading lady boss, Daisy Ridley recently stood up for herself against body shaming after a critic claimed that her slender figure sets unrealistic expectations for women. Daisy did not back down and instead advised her fans to spread love rather than hate.
Beauty comes in all shapes and sizes and people REALLY need to stop defining what physique makes a woman a “Real woman.”
The star of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Daisy Ridley was recently the victim of body shaming after a critic posted a meme of her saying QUOTE – “I can’t believe the unrealistic expectations I’m setting for young girls. Who cast me anyway? Don’t they know real women have curves?” So not cool. Let’s get it straight once and for all that no matter what type of body you have, you’re beautiful.
Daisy did not let the body shaming slide and reposted the hateful meme captioning it - "Real women' are all shapes and sizes, all ethnicities, all levels of brave, have families, don't have families. I am a 'real women' like every other woman in this world."
But then of course, Daisy has legions of fans who will no doubt always defend her against any hate and so she soon deleted the meme because it showed the meme creator’s username and you best believe Daisy’s fans went after the body shamer with a vengeance. Daisy then posted a lengthy positive message to state her peace saying QUOTE - “I’m a normal girl thrust into extraordinary circumstances, just like Rey. I will not apologise for how I look, what I say and how I live my life cause what’s happening inside is much more important anyway and I am striving to be the best version of myself, even if I stumble along the way.” The post went on to say - “For anyone who has a problem with ANYONE in life, be them someone you know or someone you don’t remember that expression, if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all. Kindness isn’t going to cure the world of all its awareness but it’s a good place to begin.”
And to add even more nice spice to the positive message, Daisy captioned the post saying QUOTE – “Guys it was not my intention for anyone to send messages to that poor person that posted the original picture. My whole post is about being kind to each other, so please refrain!” Kudos to Daisy for taking the high road and spreading a positive message!
