HE IS THE ONE WHO KNOCKS! Bryan Cranston won the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor for Breaking Bad at the 66th annual Primetime Emmys and it’s safe to say this iconic show went out with a bang. You’re back at Clevver’s Trophy Life where we’re talking about Walter White, uh, we mean Bryan Cranston and his big Emmy win.
Let’s take another look at his touching acceptance speech.
After that quick joke, he continued to talk about his love and intense passion for the craft, as well as the gratitude he feels towards the Breaking Bad crew and creators. Bryan thoughtfully thanked his cast mates including his partner in crime Aaron Paul and TV wife Anna Gunn – who were each victorious during the evening’s festivities -- Aaron for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama and Anna for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama. He even cracked a little joke about his favorite scenes with his TV wife being on the intimate side, which is just further proof that Bryan can balance drama and comedy just perfectly.
It was seriously stiff competition for this particular category as Bryan was up against actors such as Jon Hamm in Mad Men, Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson for their roles on True Detective, Kevin Spacey for House of Cards and Jeff Daniels in The Newsroom. Wow. Great actors.
However, we hate to say that we weren’t terribly surprised by Bryan’s win, especially since this was Breaking Bad’s swan song at the Emmys, not to mention he had already won three other times for his portrayal. Yes, that makes this Bryan’s FOURTH Emmy for the popular show, and did we mention Breaking Bad won for Outstanding Drama Series, too? Round of applause all around.
