Dr Mahathir Mohamad has tendered his resignation as the prime minister of Malaysia this afternoon.
This was confirmed by the Prime Minister’s Office, which stated the resignation letter “was delivered to the Agong at 1pm”.
Meanwhile, Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin has announced that his party is quitting Pakatan Harapan.
He said the decision was made yesterday during a special meeting.
