An aide to the prime minister has lodged a police report to begin investigations over a movement to overthrow the Anwar Ibrahim administration.

The report was made to end speculation which could cause public anxiety and affect investor confidence, Anwar’s senior political secretary Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin told reporters in Putrajaya today.

He said controversial blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin’s recent claims on statutory declarations were clear proof of the existence of a movement to overthrow the government despite it being a futile action.
