First kisses, Friday night drives, fake IDs: those reckless teenage years may be a thing of the past, but Ed lets it be known that they’re never one to forget.
We all love a good drive down memory lane, when we were once young and free and trying to navigate life, and Ed Sheeran’s newest music video for his recently released single “Castle on the Hill” is the perfect reminder of those good ol’ glory days.
Ed traveled all the way back to his hometown in Framlingham, England, to recreate scenes from his teenage past, while driving down country roads, sneaking out with friends, having his first kiss and making us all recall a bit of our own past…
Although present-day Ed was seen driving down the same backroads throughout the course of the video, he managed to scope out his own younger looking doppelganger to fill his teenage shoes, along with a group of actors cast to represent his childhood friends, until he reunites with the group at the very end. He even revealed a fun fact about all the kids in the video, tweeting QUOTE, “Loved filming this in Fram. All these kids are actually from my high school! Go watch it & share it far and wide.”
Ed thanks his friends throughout the video for helping raise him to be who he is today and reveals in the song that many of his friends have gone through traumatic, life-changing events; however, one thing that hasn’t changed is their everlasting friendship.
So raise your hands if you weirdly related to almost every line of this song, because I’m starting to get a little freaked out, but nonetheless, it was a great trip down memory lane. But there’s much more where that came from, and the wait is almost up until Ed’s newest album Divide, drops on March 3. In the meantime I want to know all your thoughts on Ed’s new music video, so get to talking right down here in the comments and as always, be sure to subscribe. Thanks for hanging out with me here on Clevver News, I’m your host Meghan Lamontagne and I’ll see you next time.
