During the sit down, Halsey told the mag QUOTE “There’s a lot of people I wouldn’t put on my record. Iggy Azalea: Absolutely not. She had a complete disregard for black culture. Fucking moron. I watched her career dissolve and it fascinated me.”
Ouch. During the same interview, Halsey also defended Quavo, with whom she collaborated with for “Lie,” despite the face the he, himself, came under serious fire who allegedly making homophobic remarks earlier this year.
Naturally, it didn’t take too long for the internet to react, igniting the #HalseyisOver” tweet, and it didn’t take too much longer after that for Halsey to respond to the backlash. She began profusely apologizing for defending Quavo, but girl is not ready to say sorry for any comments she made about Iggy Azalea.
Taking to her Twitter, Halsey wrote QUOTE
“Honestly? I didn't know that Quavo had made homophobic comments when I collaborated with him. We've never spoken a word to each other and + I have no intention of pursuing a friendship there, unless he wants to make a legitimate apology.”
Then, when one fan tweeted QUOTE @halsey why would you defend a rapper you’ve “never spoken a word to” regarding lgbt issues when you + half your fan base are lgbt,” Halsey responded saying QUOTE “I think that’s an important point. I AM queer & I TRY to be understanding & want people to be educated. But I’m truly sorry for my misjudgement.”
Those tweets remain on Halsey’s twitter feed, buuuuut according to some fans, the singer did have a lot to say about her Iggy comments that are now nowhere to be found. The internet is claiming that a tweet made my Halsey, that has since been deleted, stated that she definitely did not regret saying that Iggy has a disregard for black culture.”
