Nicki Minaj extends an olive branch to fellow rapstress Iggy Azalea! Iggy, our advice: please take it. So here’s the deal, Nicki Minaj is covering the new issue of Fader magazine, looking very naturally beautiful and red hot, might we add. In the magazine Ms. Minaj clears up some things about her quote unquote “beef” with female rapper Iggy Azalea from the BET Awards in June. Nicki says, “My point of saying what I said was that women need to have a perspective. If we’re out here saying that we’re so confident, and we’re so this and so that, but we don’t even trust ourselves to write down our thoughts and spit it on a beat? It just doesn’t add up.” Ok, yes we believe Nicki is trying to remedy the situation here by explaining her thoughts. And by “confident” we think Nicki is referring to Iggy’s song “Fancy”. But, part of this statement could be taken the wrong way, saying “it just doesn’t add up” also sounds like a diss in a way. Nicki also makes some assumptions here that Iggy doesn’t write ANY of her own rhymes. While Iggy Iggs may or may not have ghost writers or TI help her write, I’m sure she writes at least SOME if not all of her own stuff. Perhaps as a fresh rapstress on the scene she’s been looking for some guidance. Now, we hope Iggy takes this as constructive criticism and uses Nicki’s advice to pen her creative thoughts in song form. Perhaps Nicki should write a song WITH Iggy and show her a thing or two? Sharing is caring. Remember this feud escalated at the BET Awards in June when Nicki accepted her award for Best Female Hip Hop artist and accused Iggy of not writing her own lyrics. Followed by some awkward “No, no, no shade. No, no, no shade.” No word yet on what Iggy thinks of Nicki’s “explanation” to Fader but we’ll definitely keep you updated on her response. And can we end by saying how awesome it is that female rap is having such a big moment in the music industry right now?
