The shockwaves from BN's overwhelming victory in Malacca will likely reach Putrajaya and embolden the coalition and Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob as they prepare for the next general election.

BN has shown that, at least for the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia, its Muafakat Nasional pact with PAS is irrelevant.

However, while it may seem like a crushing defeat for PN on paper, it made inroads in several seats while achieving unexpected victories in Bemban and Sungai Udang.
