Ian Somerhalder Clarifies His Previous Comments About 'The Vampire Diaries' Ending

Over the weekend, Ian Somerhalder told a crowd at a fan convention in Nashville, that the CW show The Vampire Diaries would be coming to an end after season eight finishes in 2017… After that caused the internet to explode and fans everywhere were not so low key freaking out, Ian is saying that he messed up and didn’t mean to imply that at all!
He took to TwitPlus to tweet a long(er) tweet saying QUOTE: "Last weekend I talked to an audience at a Q&A about the end of the vampire diaries and how excited I was to make what I believe — my last year — be as great as possible… Somehow in my infinite wisdom and end-of-season foggy brain, I managed to make it sound like the show was coming to an end. Cut-to the press running stories that the show would be done after Season 8. Thing is, the people who actually make that decision (the CW and WB) haven't made it yet!"
Sooo all of this to me makes it sound like Ian is just considering leaving the show after season eight himself, whether or not the show get picked up for season nine. Kat Graham also recently confirmed that season eight would be her last, so that has us thinking what would the show even be without the two and could it actually be a thing???
That’s a decision that will be made by CW and WB, but no matter what happens, we still have season eight to look forward two, and still have some hope that a season nine will follow, but I want to know what all of you are thinking about Ian kind of saying the show was coming to an end, and then taking it back after people started to latch on???
