Two days ago Katy Perry debuted a new look, posting a photo to social media writing “New life who dis”. The photo sees Katy as a platinum blonde and looks suspiciously like single artwork or an album cover. News spread that Katy would be debuting a new song at the Grammys this weekend called “Chained to the Rhythm”. And now Ms. Perry has verified the news herself. She posted a short video teaser confirming the song title in a very clever way...
As you saw Katy took her song title very literally, by chaining up a disco ball that we later realize is also chained up to Katy! While there’s only a short snippet of the new song at the end of the clip, we get a totally retro 80’s vibe from it. It’s not some dark political anthem that may be expected from Katy right now, but a bright pop single.
Don’t forget the song features Bob Marley’s grandson Skip Marley so get ready for some major reggae influence as well. The song was co-written by Katy and her pal Sia and produced by Max Martin.
Katy captioned this video clip, “Why are we all so chained… #FRIDAYTHE10TH”. Yup! That means we won’t have to wait until the Grammys on Sunday to hear Katy’s comeback single, it will be released this Friday. A Spotify billboard appeared in Los Angeles yesterday promoting the February 10th drop.
But if you want to hear the song even sooner, you have one more option! Go to chainedto.katyperry.com to see a map of hidden disco balls around the WORLD. Fans who find them will be able to listen to the song in full and are encouraged to share the lyrics online.
