You guys, it’s the end of an era. The time has finally come for American Idol to end and the iconic musical competition will be getting the best send-off EVER.
From Kelly Clarkson to Carrie Underwood, many past Idol winners and runner ups will reunite on the very stage that turned them all into American idols (lol) for one final performance.
Mark your calendars for April 7th because American Idol’s final episode will most definitely be a memorable one. Almost every winner from the last fourteen seasons and a few memorable finals are confirmed to show up to say goodbye to American Idol. While the final episode is just weeks away, past contestants and winners have been showing up here and there to perform on the show.
Last night, Idol alums Katharine McPhee and David Cook, along with Sia took the stage for some pretty incredible performances. David played his song ‘Heartbeat’ from his most recent album, ‘Digital Vein’ with a video montage of all the Idols that will be appearing on the show’s last episode.
Obviously we know Kelly and Carrie are coming back, but I’m pretty sure I spotted Ruben Studdard, Jordin Sparks, and a few good ones on there. Meanwhile, Katharine gave us all the throwback feels by performing an incredible rendition of ‘Somewhere Over the Rainbow,’ you know, the song she slayed many years ago when she first appeared on American Idol? Yeah, girlfriend still sounds amazing to this day. Take a look.
Ugh, chills. Just…so many chills after watching that beautiful performance. Sia, who was a guest mentor for the episode, also got on that stage, put on her usual oversized black and white wig and sang her song ‘Cheap Thrills’ for the audience and the final four contestants on the show.
Sia obviously sounds amazing and her dancers were definitely on point. But aside from all the incredible performances that night, the final four contestants were revealed and sadly, we all had to say goodbye to Son-e-ka Va-id this week. And then there were four. Now we’re just left with just La’Pore-sha Renae, MacKenzie Bourg, Trent Harmon, and Dalton Rapattoni. I can’t believe we’re just weeks away from finding out who our final American Idol winner will be. No pressure, you guys.
