Kylie and Kendall respond to what they’re calling a “baseless” lawsuit over Tupac T-shirts sold from their line...
A photographer is suing Kylie and Kendall for using his pics on their T-shirts, but the girls’ reps aren’t exactly shaking in their boots over the suit…
Photographer Michael Miller has filed suit against Kylie and Kendall for using photographs he took of Tupac on their shirts. He claimed in the suit that the girls “misappropriated and wrongfully exploited” his work, and claimed the Jenner sisters were not authorized to “exploit his photography”.
The sisters’ company argued back, however, saying that the images were purchased from a company that had been authorized to license them. And as for the photographer suing the girls themselves, their rep explained QUOTE, “It’s like suing an actor for being in a movie”. While Kylie and Kendall did approve the shirt designs, they have nothing to do with the legality of their clothing line, and trust their company to take care of any licensing issues ahead of being shown any and all designs.
This Tupac photographer’s suit against the girls themselves may be baseless, but the brand also came under fire over similar T-shirts that featured artists such as Notorious B.I.G. and Ozzy Osbourne. All the shirts, including the Tupac ones, went on sale for $125 apiece, but they were they pulled from the marketplace after Sharon Osbourne and and B.I.G's mom complained and sent cease and desist letters. Sharon Osbourne tweeted a picture of one of the Ozzy shirts, along with the caption QUOTE, “Girls, you haven’t earned the right to put your face with musical icons. Stick to what you know…lip gloss.”
The K + K label has since apologized for the T-shirts, and we probably won’t be seeing Kylie or Kendall superimposing their faces on top of musical icons again anytime soon.
Alright guys now I wanna know what YOU think of the lawsuit against Kendall and Kylie, and do you think they were wrong to approve of the shirts in the first place?
