[KiniNews] Activist Arun Dorasamy has urged Indians to boycott the upcoming Pulai and Simpang Jeram by-elections on Sept 9.

This, said Arun, was to protest against Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim's decision to preside over a religious conversion ceremony involving an Indian youth.

"I'm not asking for Indians to support Perikatan Nasional. Instead, this is a protest against the government of the day," he told Malaysiakini.

Arun is currently being investigated by the police over his Tiktok video, where he criticised Anwar's involvement in the ceremony.

Meanwhile, in a separate story, a Terengganu PAS leader has defended Kedah Menteri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor's act of swatting a youth with a piece of paper.

According to Jabi assemblyperson Azman Ibrahim, much "harsher" acts are taken in a lighter manner in different cultures.

“Maybe in Kedah, jokingly swatting someone's head with paper is a sign of friendliness,” he said.
