[KiniNews] Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has praised Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim as a “good leader” for accepting former premier Najib Abdul Razak’s apology for the 1MDB scandal.

“A good leader should accept apologies from anyone, and Umno stands by the statement made by the secretary-general (Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki)," he reportedly said.

“We believe Najib was misled by somebody and a group of people, and this matter should be taken seriously," he added.

Meanwhile, in a separate story, the criminal court will decide tomorrow whether Najib will walk free or must answer 25 counts of abuse of power and money laundering involving RM2.27 billion from 1MDB.

The Kuala Lumpur High Court end-of-prosecution ruling will come on the heels of the former prime minister's statement last week where he apologised over the 1MDB debacle while still maintaining his innocence.
